The Cardiff and Bristol Dental Schools only offer this scheme to UWIC graduates, meaning that about a third of our students have jobs arranged before graduation.

The programme provides opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate extended knowledge and understanding and advanced skills including: anatomy, histology, pathology of the dental, oral and facial tissues, research methodology, intra/extra oral implantology, materials science, oncology, craniofacial abnormalities, digital technology. Treating patients through: diagnosis and treatment planning, restoration of missing tissues including clinical and laboratory procedures, surgical planning techniques. A research project is undertaken from the second term of the first year to completion of the final year.

Dental prostheses have to conform to strict physical and mechanical principles to restore the function of lost teeth, yet they must fulfil the aesthetic expectations of the patient.
