| | | | Modern lingual orthodontics is a technique attributed to Kurz and Fujita in the 1970's which used orthodontic brackets attached to the lingual surfaces of the teeth to allow tooth movements to be carried out. The appliance had a short burst of popularity in the US but once ceramic brackets were invented the decline of lingual orthodontics was quite sudden.
