Modern lingual orthodontics is a technique attributed to Kurz and Fujita in the 1970's which used orthodontic brackets attached to the lingual surfaces of the teeth to allow tooth movements to be carried out. This in turn leads to conservation of natural tooth structure with new designs for restoration.
